I began my Grace and Pace journey in the fall. My friend was pushing me to join and I really was never a fan of running. After a lot of persistence from my good friend I joined. During this time in my life I was dealing with a lot of stress and trying to keep my head above water. I was taking care of my sick dad’s health and even the strongest start to crumble. So to say Grace & Pace came into my life at a time where I needed it the most is truly an understatement. I was finally making my health a priority and doing something for me.
I was originally joining as a walker- never wanting to run! The first session I was super nervous, but I met this wonderful group of women who are all apart of Grace & Pace.
After Sarah explained the Grace & Pace program and shared her amazing positive energy and words with the group she blew the whistle and I just started to run with the rest of the women. It was an extremely motivating and humbling experience.
When I started doing interval running I couldn’t even run for 30 seconds without being winded- I pretty much needed my inhaler before the start of our meets. But gradually it became easier, and Sarah started to gradually increase my interval running while teaching me the techniques of running and breathing . Sarah literally taught me to run- the proper mechanisms along with breathing and now I do not need my inhaler before the start of our meets. My lung capacity has improved along with my stamina. It’s an amazing feeling to see where I started to where I am now, and I am showing that to my children. We can all do hard things!
All the women who join Grace & Pace are at their own pace and level, and Sarah just knows how to work with each individual during our meets. Grace & Pace is more than just a running group, Sarah has made sure of that! She keeps you accountable in your goals. She has this gift that is hard to put into words- she has this grace about her and a way of getting all of us out of our comfort zone and pushing us to be our best self. I have never met someone who is so motivating; her entire being is contagious.
I can truly say the feeling you get after you finish your run/ intervals is like nothing I have experienced. Yes it is hard,but each week I continue to look forward to the next time we meet. It is not just a running group- this is a group of amazing and energetically positive group of fabulous women, I am so lucky to have met.
I say all the time if I can do it anyone can!!!
